Role and Application

Smoke vents (smoke flaps) are a key component of gravity smoke extraction systems, serving to safely remove smoke and toxins during a fire. Thanks to transparent infills, they can additionally function as roof skylights. They are designed for flat roofs (with a pitch up to 15°) in facilities such as industrial halls, warehouses, shopping centers, or office buildings. They are available in single-leaf or double-leaf versions.

The device base consists of four galvanized steel segments with a minimum thickness of 1.25 mm. Its height is selected according to the project design (ranging from 30 to 100 cm), with 35 cm, 50 cm, and 75 cm being the most commonly used variants. The construction requires stable support along the entire perimeter of the roof opening.

Types of geometry

Depending on design requirements, three upstand types are available: straight (P models), straight-inclined (PS2 models), and inclined (S models). Selected models can be adapted to also function as roof access hatches.

Infill variants

The vent cover can be customized for insulation and aesthetics. Options include UV-filtered multiwall polycarbonate (various thicknesses), fire-resistant NRO panels with BROOF(t1) classification, or acrylic domes. The material can be fully transparent or opal (milky).

Drive systems

The vent opens in two ways: electrically (24V actuators with various current ratings) or pneumatically (actuators using CO2 cartridges). In double-leaf models, each leaf has its own independent drive mechanism.

Performance enhancement accessories

Smoke extraction efficiency can be increased by installing additional galvanized steel components. These include wind deflectors and inlet nozzles, which increase the so-called aerodynamic free area of the vent, improving air and smoke flow.

Products are CE certified and comply with EN 12101-2. They guarantee reliability for 1,000 opening cycles (Re 1000 class) and a fast response time—reaching full opening in under 60 seconds, even under high snow loads (up to 900 N/m²).
